You are either OK with discrimination, or you are not.
We are not. Springfield News-Leader Editorial - April 9, 2015
The Springfield News-Leader’s Editorial Board just published a powerful condemnation of Tuesday’s repeal of the city’s expanded nondiscrimination ordinance.
We simply can not afford to be passive observers when it comes to discrimination, and repealing this law doesn't empower anyone to deny housing or employment to those in the LGBT community.
Speaking directly to the Springfield community, the News-Leader's Editorial Board called on residents to reject discrimination.
We encourage leaders in both ordinance camps to demonstrate that, in spite of the vote, we will be a kind community to all our citizens as we work toward better understanding.
We couldn’t agree more. The Missouri Legislature needs to pass the Missouri Nondisrimination Act and make the words “fired for being gay” history.
