Speaker Tim Jones Pushing Death Panel Conspiracy

Speaker Tim Jones is no stranger to controversy and pushing debunked conspiracy theories. For years he's pushed stories from high profile birthers like Orly Taitz and Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, even going so far as to join Taitz's lawsuit challenging President Obama's birth certificate. Jones has fanned the flames of his birther nonsense as recently as February of this year, fundraising off his imagined martyrdom after several high profile articles pointedly referenced his outrageous allegations regarding the President's citizenship.

Now it appears that Birther Tim has a new conspiracy theory he's getting behind: Death Panels. Yep, Timmy has been pushing the long discredited idea that the Affordable Care Act includes death panels.

Sarah Palin started pushing this terrible lie back when Congress was first debating the ACA saying, according to Politifact, that, "Seniors and the disabled 'will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care.'" Upon her failed effort to derail President Obama's signature piece of legislation, Politifact awarded the half-term governor with having 2009's Lie of the Year.

And yet, here we are in 2013 and the Missouri Speaker of the House is pushing fully discredited lies. Over and over again. The articles Jones points to include quotes from Mark Halperin in which he allegedly argues that death panels were included in the ACA. They're not. In fact, in the 24 hours directly following his comments, Halperin himself walked them back saying that he does not believe the ACA includes death panels.

But don't expect Birther Tim to walk back his own comments that the Affordable Care Act only gets worse in that it includes death panels. That would require him to admit that he's wrong.
