Yes, Good Things ARE Happening

Yes, there are terrible, awful things happening in Jefferson City (ever hear of SJR 39?). But guess what—there are good things happening, too. Cheers to the following bright spots from last week:

Strong Turnout for Worker's Rally

Workers joined elected officials and labor leaders on the lawn of the Capitol last Wednesday to rally in support of working families. Lawmakers including Attorney General Chris Koster and State Senator Gina Walsh spoke against so-called “Right to Work,” “Paycheck Deception,” and proposed cuts to the prevailing wage. Rally participants also met with their legislators and asked them to help protect Missouri’s workers.

Reproductive Health Lobby Day

Supporters of reproductive rights met with legislators last Wednesday. Groups across Missouri organized the event to oppose efforts seeking to limit women’s access to health care.

4,000+ Petitions Opposing SJR 39 Delivered

Last Thursday clergy, business owners, community leaders, and activists rallied against SJR 39. After the rally, they delivered over 4,000 signed petitions opposing SJR 39 to Speaker Richardson’s and Rep. Haahr’s offices.
