Like so many of his colleagues, Sen. Roy Blunt used social media to share his condolences after the massacre in Orlando.
But much like Kurt Schaefer, Blunt’s condolences were in stark contrast to his actual legislative record.
Blunt voted just days later to allow individuals on the terrorist watch list to purchase assault weapons, and also voted against expanded background checks.
And lest we forget, in 2013, Blunt co-sponsored the SJR 39 prototype “Marriage and Religious Freedom Act” which would have—you guessed it—legalized discrimination against LGBT Americans.
Sen. Blunt is an old hand at this game—he assumes no one will call him out on his hypocrisy, so he can keep collecting his NRA checks and hobnobbing with the DC swells as usual.
