Advocates Speak Out Against Kurt Schaefer's Power Move to Privatize Medicaid

Sen. Kurt Schaefer jammed through legislation during the budget process in 2015 that could privatize the majority Medicaid services in Missouri. He has received hefty contributions from health care companies, and his former Chief of Staff is currently lobbying for the Missouri Association of Health Plans.

Rowden's Ethics Reform Claims Meaningless

At the beginning of the last legislative session, ethics reform was hot--legislators were nearly tripping over each other to tell any reporter with a pen or microphone how much they believed in bringing robust ethics reform back to the Capitol.

About That Filibuster...

A conservative backlash has emerged as a result of the 2015 SCOTUS ruling legalizing same-sex marriage.

Senate Joint Resolution 39, sponsored by Sen. Bob Onder (R-St. Charles), would allow businesses and individuals to refuse providing “wedding-related” services to same sex couples. (nevermind that the Equal Protection Clause in the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution applies to everyone, not just straight couples).
