Pre-Filing Starts with Attacks on Workers

Yesterday marked the beginning of pre-filing legislation for the 2017 legislative session. Between the House and Senate, elected officials have so far filed 15 pieces of potentially anti-worker legislation.

They included a paycheck deception bill, five bills dismantling the prevailing wage, and two bills to make Missouri a so-called “right to work” state....all designed to weaken unions, silence workers, and lower wages across the board.

UPDATE: Turns out, Greitens Got Almost $700k from Charter School Proponents

After publishing the blog post on Gov.-elect Greiten’s $100,000 in donations from the DeVos family, Progress Missouri learned that he’s taken almost $700,000 from donors with special charter school interests. Randy Turner, a former teacher, newspaper reporter and editor, delved into these connections on his political blog, The Turner Report.

Planned Parenthood to Sue

Earlier this week, Planned Parenthood Federation of America announced they are partnering with the ACLU and Center for Reproductive Rights to sue the Attorney General, county prosecutors for Boone, Greene, Jackson, and Jasper counties, and the Department of Health and Human Services.

The lawsuit aims to correct Missouri’s obscene anti-choice laws, and change our statute to comply with the recent SCOTUS’s Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt decision.

October 2016 #MOLeg Lobbyist Gifts

The Missouri Ethics Commission just released lobbyist gift data for October 2016. Here are your updated rankings of the  Missouri House and Senate. We've ranked elected officials by the amount they received personally. The second number represents how much staff and family members received (as reported to the MEC).

How Far Will $100k Get You With Greitens?

The DeVos family's influence reaches far beyond Michigan borders--they recently gave $100,000 in donations to Governor-elect Eric Greitens.

What's the Difference Between Greitens and Scott Walker? Not Much.

Last weekend, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker came down to Missouri to stump for his new BFF -- Eric Greitens.

Walker is best known for an agenda that attacks workers' rights, women's access to reproductive heath care, and a reliance upon dark money and shady laundering schemes.

Eric Greiten’s unaccounted for $2 million from “SEALS for Truth” reads like a stepping stone to Scott Walker’s infamous John Doe case.

Senator Mike Parson Likes Lobbyist Gifts...."Ethics Reform" Not So Much

Right before the Republican primaries, Bubs Hohulin, former Chief of Staff for Senator Mike Parson, shared a public Facebook post outlining why he can’t vote for his former boss.

He followed up with the KC Star, saying that he will vote for Russ Carnahan, Parson’s Democratic opponent in the general election.

Hohulin noticed that Parson’s policy comprehension isn’t the greatest. Also, ETHICS.

THIS is what "Ethics Reform" looks like?

To kick off veto session, former senator turned Sinquefield-funded lobbyist, Tom Dempsey, took to the Senate dais.

His former colleague Sen. Mike Parson sent out a tweet celebrating his return.
